Summary of Position

The Cornell Atkinson Advisory Council provides strong support for the implementation of the new strategic plan. The Advisory Council is an important vehicle for extending the initiatives of Cornell Atkinson to potential partner organizations and individuals central to accomplishing its goals. The focus is on the core theme for Cornell Atkinson: Building Resilient Rural-Urban Systems by increasing food security, accelerating energy transitions, reducing climate risks and advancing one health. Members expectations & contributions include: Participant & Contributor; Advocate & Strategic Thought Partner; Supporter; and Connector & Fundraiser.

Requirements

Prerequisites Terms & Details: (1) Board terms are for three years, renewable upon mutual agreement. (2) Participation requires two full-day Advisory Council meetings per year to review and refine proposed initiatives; at least one of those meetings is likely to be virtual. (3) Director of Development is the key liaison to the council from the Center Director and Executive Committee. The Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships also works closely with the Board and its members to advance center goals. (4) Financial arrangements: For in-person Advisory Council meetings requiring travel to Ithaca or elsewhere, Cornell Atkinson provides one night hotel, the reception/dinner the evening prior, breakfast and lunch day-of meeting. Other food and travel expenses are the responsibility of the board member.
