Summary of Position: Subject to the Charter of the University and laws of the of the State, the Board of Trustees shall have supreme control over the University, including every college, school, and academic department, division and center thereof. The Bylaws delegate responsibility for day-to-day administration of the University to the president and his staff; but the Board retains ultimate policy-making authority. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: electing tenured faculty; electing the president, provost, university counsel/secretary of the corporation, VPs, Deans, other senior administrators & establishing their compensation; providing advice on educational policy, programs, and campus life; and adopting the University's budget.

Summary of Position: Cornellians is a digital-first publication and alumni community hub produced as a partnership between Cornell Alumni Affairs & Development (AAD), University Relations (UR), and alumni. The Cornellians Alumni Advisory Council is the formal representation of the alumni voice in this partnership, collaborating with AAD and UR staff members to ensure that the alumni voice is represented in our editorial content and platform. This council will directly advise both the Cornellians Editor-in-Chief and the Platform Director, as well as senior AAD and UR leaders in this work. The mission of Cornellians is to engage and inspire alumni throughout their lifetime by informing, entertaining, and connecting the Big Red community around the globe.

Summary of Position: The main responsibility of the host / ambassador is to be connected with a Cornell SOTC participant through the summer. As an SOTC Ambassador, you will be assigned a student for the summer to check in on. Primarily you contact the student(s) before they arrive to introduce yourself and offer to help get them settled into the CWRU dorms. Some students need to be picked up from the airport and/or a ride to the store to pick up a few essentials. Several times over the summer check in with the student, invite them to dinner, etc.
As an SOTC volunteer, you are invited to special events throughout the summer. These events provide wonderful opportunities to network with Cleveland-area professionals who share a common passion for attracting young talent to the area, including SOTC board members and volunteers, and representatives from the corporations who employ SOTC interns.
Volunteers will receive training in May.

Summary of Position: The Recent and Young Alumni Chair is a new CCNNJ board position and will be part of the team that provides leadership and guidance to the board and the local Cornell community. The position is dedicated to organizing events and initiatives that resonate specifically with recent Cornell graduates (within ten years out), based in Northern New Jersey. Events and activities will align with Cornell University priorities and be fresh and unique ideas to engage young alumni in our area and make a meaningful impact on our alumni network. Opportunity exists to evaluate additional opportunities like All-Ivy events and events with other Cornell Club regions to keep the schedule lively and interesting. Recent and Young Alumni Chair will represent the interests of all recent and young alumni in the community and develop appropriate events with recent and young alumni in mind. This position will collaborate with the club’s board on ideas for the annual student send-off event; The Chair will also offer perspective on other club events and programming ideas to ensure the younger alumni population is represented.

Summary of Position: The Board Chair of CWAN leads the organization in collaboration with the Board to represent and address the interests of the CWAN alumni affinity group within the framework of the all-alumni community it serves. This role involves engagement and supporting At-Large Board Members in the planning and execution of CWAN events and initiatives. As a member of the Board, the CWAN Chair actively participates in and supports all-alumni focused programming. The Chair builds partnerships with other alumni groups, members, and University entities. The Chair is an advocate for the University and the CWAN club. The Chair embodies enthusiasm for strengthening alumni engagement and fostering a vibrant, supportive network for Cornell alumni.

Summary of Position: The Finance Chair is responsible for developing CWAN’s annual budget in collaboration with Alumni Affairs and overseeing its implementation throughout the fiscal year. The Finance Chair works closely with the Board to track event budgets, monitor spending, and identify opportunities to enhance CWAN’s programming and initiatives. They serve as the primary contact for budget-related inquiries, guide members through the reimbursement process, and ensure efficient expense management. Additionally, the Finance Chair supports event planning by maintaining a list of preferred vendors, documenting past event budgets, and providing financial insights to Programming Chairs.

Summary of Position: The Marketing Chair leads the strategy and execution of all marketing, branding, and communications efforts to promote the organization’s initiatives, events, and mission. This role is responsible for ensuring that messaging across platforms is consistent, engaging, and aligned with organizational goals. They are the owners of the CWAN social media channels. They generate logo designs for events and branding. They are responsible for collecting and reviewing event photos for use. They create and cultivate online interaction for our members.

Summary of Position: The Philanthropy Chair’s role is to create and lead opportunities for CWAN members to give back to their community. The Chairperson will seek out new and continuing organizations with whom to work, as well as partner with other alumni organizations on philanthropic events. The chair can work with members who already work with philanthropic organizations, and create ad-hoc committees as needed to support efforts.

This role involves maintaining a yearly calendar of events, overseeing the event planning process, and ensuring comprehensive documentation for smooth operations and continuity. Summary of Position: The Secretary's role is facilitating communication among officers and scheduling and arranging logistics for meetings with the Board. The secretary takes minutes of meetings and distributes to all officers as well as the staff contact. They are also personally responsible for maintaining a record of all meeting minutes. The Secretary may also ensure that the Bylaws are regularly reviewed and updated.The Secretary may also serve as historian by documenting important events and changes in the organization's history. The Secretary will also work with the Marketing Chair to ensure relevant Board announcements and information are shared on the CWAN website.

The Chair is an advocate for the university and the club, and is excited to engage fellow alumnae in the community. Summary of Position:
The central purpose of the NYC Cornellians board is to coordinate with various alumni volunteer organizations who operate within NYC, the staff in the Northeast Corridor Office responsible for alumni engagement, and The Cornell Club - New York. These include, but are not limited to: Johnson School Clubs, College Alumni Associations and Councils, CAAAN, Diversity Alumni Programs alumni associations, the Cornell Hotel Society, Cornell Tech, etc. These joint members will support cross-collaboration, increase alumni engagement in all efforts within New York City, and serve as a strategic resource for local alumni organizations and Cornell entities in their execution of engagement activity in NYC. In addition, at-large board members may actively participate in maintenance of the newsletter, website, social outreach, etc. At-large board members attend events they plan and actively participate in other NYC Cornellians programming. You are an advocate for the university and excited to engage fellow alumni in the community.

Summary of Position: The Cornell Club of Ithaca (CCI) seeks volunteers from the Ithaca, NY area to serve on its Board of Directors. CCI is a dues-free alumni organization. Board members are responsible for the general control and management of the club. The main purpose of CCI is to support Cornell’s mission, build community, and drive peer-to-peer engagement among members of the Cornell community in the Ithaca, NY area. There is a minimal time commitment involved. Typical responsibilities include planning volunteering and social events and attending Board meetings. Leadership opportunities will most likely open up over the next few years (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Security).
