Summary of Position

The vice president will perform the presidential duties in the absence of the president; will perform such duties as are assigned by the president or the board; and may serve as chair of a committee or working group.

The vice president participates in the HEYA Executive Board on regular calls and collaborates with the president for periodic communications with Human Ecology young alumni collectively and individually. The vice president may be called upon to speak to alumni or student groups, the Dean's Advisory Council, or other College groups.

Excellent leadership qualities are expected of the vice president in supporting the president and other members of the council. The vice president coordinates with the president to oversee the individual and collective activity of council members; supports the president in managing expectations by maintaining a balanced activity level of relevant and meaningful council programs that are effectively run and have measurable outcomes.

Represent Cornell
Attend Human Ecology and Cornell alumni events as a representative of the HEYA to forge new and continued alumni connections to the College. Serve as an ambassador for the HEYA by encouraging alumni involvement and engagement with fellow alumni, with the College and its students. Assist the president in encouraging council member leadership through mentoring, by example, and by assisting in special projects. Help identify future council members, and current volunteers, donors, and prospective students for the College.
