Summary of Position

Provide leadership for a group of Cornellians who help A&S students learn about careers by connecting them with alumni and parents. This committee serves the College of Arts & Sciences by collaborating with A&S Career Services to connect students with alumni for the purpose of learning about career options. The committee accomplishes its goal through activities, events, and networking throughout the year, on-campus and off. The Chair provides leadership by collaborating with the Director of A&S Career Services, the Alumni Engagement Assistant Director, and Field Team Leaders to determine goals and priorities and share best practices among teams. The Chair shares the responsibility of identifying hosts/sponsors for ASCCC events.

Communicate

Speak to Groups
All members must be interested and able to speak with students about their careers. This may take the form of small group discussions, panels, or networking events. Additionally, the Chair is expected to collaborate with A&S Career Services Director, Alumni Affairs Assistant Director, and ASCCC members to determine goals and priorities, communicate activities, and share best practices. The Chair is also are encouraged to share their experiences with Cornell volunteering, philanthropy, and hiring as to encourage others to do the same.

Preside over the three annual board meetings including collecting agenda items, working with A&S Career Services Director & Alumni Engagement Assistant Director to determine final agenda, leading discussion during meetings; Membership training/orientation: collaborate with A&S Career Services Director & Alumni Affairs Assistant Director to inform board and field team members of A&S happenings; Nominate field team members for board and team leadership roles; Assist A&S Career Services Director & Alumni Engagement Assistant Director with membership decisions

Help identify sponsors for ASCCC events; Network with A&S alumni and parents to recruit new membership for field teams; Assist with the transition of the incoming Chair

Off Campus Location: The Chair is expected to participate in all three annual ASCCC meetings and is required to participate in at least 2 of the three. The group meets on-campus each September, at CALC in January, and via conference call in April. The Chair is expected to participate in CALC, beyond the ASCCC meeting itself, and is required to do so at least once during his or her first term of office. The Chair is also encouraged to participate in field team conference calls to plan and execute activities aimed at connecting alumni and students.
