Summary of Position

Provide leadership for an active group of Cornellians who volunteer to help A&S students learn about careers by connecting them with alumni and parents. The A&S Career Connections Committee serves the College of Arts & Sciences by collaborating with A&S Career Services to connect students with alumni for the purpose of learning about career options. The committee accomplishes its mission through activities, events, and networking throughout the year, both on-campus and off. Team Leaders Oversee the coordination of field team activities and events. Ensure that your team offers one winter and one summer event. Take the lead in identifying a host for these events.

Communicate

Speak to Groups
Members must be interested and able to speak with students about their careers. This may take the form of small group discussions, panels, or networking events. Additionally, Field Team Leaders are expected to share information from board meetings with field team members and report team activities to the board on a regular basis. Team Leaders are also are encouraged to share their experiences with Cornell volunteering, philanthropy, and hiring as to encourage others to do the same.

Identifying Sponsors: collaborate with team members to identify sponsors for team events; Membership training/orientation: collaborate with Director of A&S Career Services and Assistant Director of A&S Alumni Affairs to keep field team members informed about current A&S happenings; Networking with A&S alumni and parents to recruit new membership for field teams and activities; Work with A&S Career Services Director and Alumni Affairs Assistant Director to handle membership questions, problems, etc.; Assist with the transition of the incoming field team leader

Off Campus Location: Field Team Leaders, as members of the Board, are required to participate in at least 2 of the three annual ASCCC meetings as well as possible team conference calls to plan and execute activities aimed at connecting alumni and students. The group meets on-campus each September, at CALC in January, and via conference call in April. Field Team Leaders are strongly encouraged to participate in CALC, beyond the ASCCC meeting itself, and are required to do so at least once during their first term of office.
