Summary of Position

The chair is responsible for overseeing the grants program for student academic and professional enrichment experiences. The chair implements the program through a committee tasked with reviewing grant applications, following up with student applicants, and determining awardees.

The chair is responsible for leading and managing the CALSAA Grants Review Committee. He/She works closely with CALS staff to set goals and initiatives for the committee and communicate those goals to committee members on conference calls and throughout the year.

The chair encourages committee member participation and delegates responsibilities to all team members. He/She is expected to orient the new committee members, coach committee members about their role, duties, and expected level of activity, and mentor members for future leadership opportunities.
