The president is charged with overseeing the operations and activities of the CALS Alumni Association and its Board of Directors. The president sets key goals for the year, leads the Executive Committee and Board, facilitates discussion, and maintains the yearly agenda in coordination with the CALS Alumni Affairs and Development Office.

The president works closely with a staff member from the CALS AA&D office, including every-other week phone calls; and oversees the CALSAA Board Executive Committee. The president is responsible for periodic communications with CALS alumni collectively and individually. The president emcees the Association Annual Meeting held during the CALS Reunion Breakfast during Cornell's Reunion weekend in June and provides an annual report to the college.

Strong leadership qualities and excellent meeting facilitation are expected of the president. The president is expected to encourage both individual and collective activity from board members. By managing expectations, maintains a balanced activity level of relevant and meaningful board programs that can be effectively run and have measurable outcomes.

Attend CALS and Cornell alumni events as a representative of the CALSAA to forge new and continued alumni connections to the college. Serve as an ambassador for the CALSAA by encouraging alumni involvement and engagement with fellow alumni, with the college and its students. Help develop future board leaders through mentorship, by example, and by assigning special projects. Assist with new board member orientation and help identify future board members, and current volunteers, donors, and prospective students for the college.
