Summary of Position

The VP of Recognition provides oversight and strategic direction for the CALSAA Recognition Committee with close partnership with the CALS AA&D office. The committee is charged with selecting and recognizing outstanding alumni, faculty, and volunteers through awards and public recognition. The VP is also asked to serve on the CALSAA Executive Committee, which provides leadership and vision for the CALS Alumni Association.

As part of the VP's duties, he/she is the emcee for the CALS Outstanding Alumni Award reception and banquet held each fall and works in partnership with the CALS AA&D staff to develop the program.

The VP is responsible for leading and managing the CALSAA Recognition Committee. He/She works closely with CALS staff to set goals and initiatives for the committee and communicate those goals to committee members on conference calls and throughout the year. The VP is responsible for leading the nomination and selection process for the CALS Outstanding Alumni Award Recipients.

The VP encourages committee member participation and delegates responsibilities to all team members. He/She is expected to orient the new committee members, coach committee members about their role, duties, and expected level of activity, and mentor members for future leadership opportunities.

Other Meeting Details: The committee is most active during the spring when it is selecting the Outstanding Alumni Award recipients. During that period, there are 2-3 conference calls with each lasting around two hours.
