Summary of Position
The vice president plays an important role in the smooth operation of the club. They are expected to serve as a chair or co-chair of one of the following committees: Membership, Programming, and Communications. In addition, a vice-president may serve as acting president if the situation requires.
The membership chair manages and works on efforts to encourage membership in the Cape Cod area.
The programing chair is responsible for creating interesting opportunities for events and activities that align with Cornell's priorities.
The communications chair is asked to explore all options for maintaining a robust online club presence and use social media to effectively communicate club and alumni activity with the local Cornell community.

It is important that the club vice presidents are able to speak with a variety of alumni, parents, and friends, especially in one-on-one conversations. Although public speaking is not necessarily a part of the position, the vice presidents should have a comfort level in speaking to their constituents. The ability to share a clear message is important in both speaking and communicating via email.

The club vice presidents should be able to run effective board meetings, motivate and support their boards and alumni. It is important that they communicate with the Alumni Affairs Regional Staff Contacts to keep up-to-date with the latest news about club policies and procedures, read about the latest news from Cornell University, and speak with their alumni and board about interests and ideas to strengthen their local alumni ties and fully engage the local community.

The club vice presidents should actively participate in succession planning and board opportunity discussions within their community. Meeting alumni and speaking with them about opportunities to engage the local Cornell community is vital to the growth of the club.
