Summary of Position

The Director of Communications is part of the team who provide leadership and guidance to the board and the local Cornell community. In addition, the Director of Communications is responsible for maintaining the club's web page, as well as ensuring any and all social media outlets are up-to-date. The Director of Communications is also asked to explore all options for maintaining a robust online club presence and use social media to effectively communicate club and alumni activity with the local Cornell community.

It is important that the Director of Communications is able to communicate in board meetings and share thoughts and ideas with the board. The ability to share a clear message is important in both speaking and communicating via email and especially on the club web pages. Experience with or willingness to learn Adobe Express, Instagram and Facebook are necessary.

The Director of Communications should effectively communicate new ideas and suggestions in board meetings, organize their time effectively to showcase the club on social media, inspire creativity and interest in the club to the local community through social media and ultimately participate in the life of the club. The Director of Communications should be willing to plan one social event each year, such as an online game night or happy hour.

The Director of Communications should actively participate in succession planning and board opportunity discussions within their community. Meeting alumni and speaking with them about opportunities to engage the local Cornell community are vital to the growth of the club.
