Summary of Position
The alumni club board members provide overall leadership and guidance for the club and the local Cornell community, support club programming and other activities, and develop strategies for strengthening the local alumni engagement, The alumni club board members are responsible for sharing information with their local alumni community from Cornell University. It is important that board members ensure continued leadership by engaging emerging alumni volunteer leaders in the community and maintaining strong ties with University Office of Alumni Affairs.

Ability to effectively communicate with alumni, parents and friends in writing and in 1:1 or large group context is key to success in this role.

Serve on a Committee or Board
Ability to run effective meetings, motivate and support their boards and alumni. Commitment to staying informed of and sharing the latest news from Cornell University. Ability to engage Cornellians in shared endeavors strengthening peer-to-peer and alumni-to-university ties.
Actively participate in succession planning. Meeting alumni and speaking with them about opportunities to engage the local Cornell community are vital to the growth of the club. Ensuring a visible presence at events and publicly acknowledging board member for their hard work, while fostering a welcoming and helpful atmosphere are all important aspects of a club member’s tenure.
