Summary of Position
The president of a Cornell University club holds a position of responsibility and must be an enthusiast and optimist on Cornell University matters. This role will provide leadership and guidance to the board and the local Cornell University community. The president will handle regular communication with Alumni Affairs, include submitting plans, event detail forms, attendance, and other requested information. Also, they will share information from Cornell University with their local alumni community. The president must support club programming and activities and develop strategies for strengthening local alumni engagement.

Speak to Groups
It is important that club presidents are able to speak with a variety of alumni, parents and friends, both in one-on-one conversations and in front of a larger group. Although public speaking is not deciding factor, the club president is an extension of Cornell University and should have a comfort level in speaking to their constituents. The ability to share a clear message is important in both speaking and communicating via email.

Provides leadership and direction to the club organization;
Presides at meetings of the club and oversees the activities of the executive committee and board of directors;
Coordinates club activities with board of directors;
Structures the organization to ensure continuity of leadership by providing opportunities for new leaders to develop and to be mentored;
Represents Cornell University and its alumni in the region by planning programs and publicity campaigns that support the College and build pride among alumni;
Involves constituents in the region by planning activities that appeal to a wide spectrum of interests;
Has overall financial responsibility for the club;
Maintains regular contact with the Alumni Affairs contact on club activities;
Ensures the completion of any requested reporting each year and submits it by the stated deadline.

Meeting alumni and speaking with them about opportunities to engage the local Cornell community are vital to the growth of the club;
