Summary of Position

“Cornellians” is a digital-first publication and alumni community hub produced as a partnership between Cornell Alumni Affairs & Development (AAD), University Relations (UR), and alumni. The “Cornellians” Alumni Advisory Council is the formal representation of the alumni voice in this partnership, collaborating with AAD and UR staff members to ensure that the alumni voice is represented in our editorial content and platform. This council will directly advise both the “Cornellians” Editor-in-Chief and the Platform Director, as well as senior AAD and UR leaders in this work. The mission of “Cornellians” is to engage and inspire alumni throughout their lifetime by informing, entertaining, and connecting the Big Red community around the globe.

Review list of “Cornellians” platform enhancements and provide feedback about priority and sequencing. Respond to requests for input between meetings. Promote “Cornellians” in professional and personal spheres of influence as well as among alumni groups.

Serve on a Committee or Board
Represent and reflect the alumni voice and community in advising AAD and UR “Cornellians” staff. Advise on industry standards, best practices, and innovation to ensure “Cornellians” remains a state of the art digital publication and platform. Attend and actively participate in quarterly meetings. Participate in Cornell volunteer training, onboarding, and offboarding activities.

Requirements

Prerequisites The "Cornellians" Alumni Advisory Council is composed of engaged Cornell alumni with a broad range of relevant media, publishing, and communications experience, as well as engaged alumni volunteers who do not work in the media/publishing/communications industry and who represent the perspective of consumers of "Cornellians". The council will represent the diversity of Cornell alumni in all aspects including age, geography, college, and fields of interest.

Off Campus Location: The Advisory Council will meet up to twice per year in person, typically once during the Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference in February (location TBD) and potentially once on campus.
