Summary of Position

The Committee will provide strategic leadership on the development of a diverse & sustainable volunteer pipeline for College of Veterinary Medicine volunteers by: - Advising on recruitment, nomination & evaluation processes for candidates for the Advisory Council, other CVM & university volunteer roles, including Cornell University Council, President’s Council of Cornell Women, Diversity Alumni Programs, & the Cornell Board of Trustees - Assisting in the development of onboarding, council member mentoring, and offboarding plans - Implementing & supporting a council member engagement & mentoring program - Increasing awareness of the college’s breadth & depth at the university level

Members should be comfortable speaking to various constituents (alumni, friends, fellow volunteers) and groups about the college and related volunteer opportunities.

Serve on a Committee or Board
Attend committee meetings and advise on College Advisory Council initiatives, processes, and programs supporting the development of a robust, diverse, sustainable volunteer pipeline. Members are encouraged to contribute ideas and share best practices from their own experiences at Cornell or elsewhere. Co-team leads will guide information gathering on particular aspects of the committee's charge (ie, onboarding, peer mentoring,...) to be shared with the committee.

Mentor
Work with committee members, staff, and other groups to identify and recommend candidates for volunteer opportunities at the college. Advise on viability of Veterinary College candidates to high-level university groups. Provide strategic input on engagement initiatives, nominations/recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring.

Other Meeting Details: Committee membership will be reevaluated and/or renewed on an annual basis or as needed to advance the committee's work.

Additional Attendance Requirements: Members are expected to attend committee meetings (currently expected to be held monthly by Zoom) and full Advisory Council meetings (two per year) as applicable. Committee meetings will be recorded for the benefit of members with scheduling conflicts.
